About Sheri R. Abrams

Sheri R. Abrams, Attorney at Law, founded her own law firm in 1995.  Ms. Abrams concentrates her law practice to representing clients in Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland in their Social Security Disability Appeals.  In January 2010 she joined Needham Mitnick & Pollack, PLC  as "Of Counsel. "

Clients often get work-related emails and letters from me in the evenings, weekends, even holidays, and they ask, “Don’t you ever sleep?” Sure, I do.

But I love what I do so much that it truly doesn’t FEEL like work. It’s a calling, not a job. I couldn’t possibly treat it as a 9-5 job because it is not.

I love representing people with disabilities and strongly suspect I’ll be doing this till the day I die, long after many other lawyers have retired from jobs that they merely tolerated in exchange for a paycheck.

The Legal Ability Ratings (C, B, A) take into consideration the standard of ability for the area where the lawyer practices, the attorney's expertise, nature of the practice and qualifications relevant to the profession.

The General-Ethical Standards Rating (V) covers adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence and other criteria relevant to the discharge of professional responsibilities.

Ms. Abrams was selected for the 2009 Best of Fairfax Award in the Local Business category.

Each year, The Best of Fairfax Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Ms. Abrams was also selected by her peers as a member of Virginia's Legal Elite for 2009.  

The Virginia Legal Elite are chosen through a survey conducted by Virginia Business Magazine and The Virginia Bar Association.  Voting is open to all lawyers licensed to practice law in Virginia.  The survey asked lawyers to nominate their colleagues who have demonstrated exceptional levels of expertise in the 15 categories of law which are chosen in consultation with the Virginia Bar Association.

In April 2010 Ms. Abrams was honored to have received accreditation by the Department of Veterans Affairs (“VA”) to prepare, present and prosecute claims for veterans before the VA.

This accreditation allows Ms. Abrams to provide veterans and their families with advice on complex areas of law concerning long-term care planning, including VA pension benefits and the related issue of Medicaid benefits.
